Our Social Investments

Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation

Founded in 1990, the Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation is a private foundation dedicated to improving the lives of individuals by developing projects in education, health and culture fields while contributing Turkey's social and economic development.

The foundation started its work by providing scholarship support to students who has high academic success requiring financial support, and within this scope, it has provided scholarships to more than 13,500 people so far. Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation continues to stand by the past and the future with the construction of schools and secondary school girls' dormitories in the field of education, rehabilitation centers in the field of health, restoration works aimed at preserving cultural heritage and a total of 64 donation investments.

Equal Opportunity in Education

Özyeğin Foundation has constructed and donated 24 schools, 25 dormitories for girls and one university dormitory in regions challenged by access to education. Today over 24.000 students are educated every year in the schools and dormitories donated by Özyeğin Foundation. The Foundation has also provided over 13.000 scholarships and supported over 3.000 university students to date.

Supporting Girls Empowerment

Özyeğin Foundation supports essential life skills training and empowerment projects for 4000 girls residing in the high school dormitories constructed by the foundation.  The projects are implemented in cooperation with leading NGOs and the Ministry of Education and outcomes include increased self-confidence, communication skills, teamwork, problem solving, taking responsibility and career guidance.

Promoting Rural Livelihoods

Özyeğin Foundation initiated a comprehensive and integrated rural livelihoods program in 2008 in Bitlis and Kilis provinces in 14 villages and 5 hamlets to improve the overall wellbeing of 4,000 inhabitants.  The program comprised fundamental elements of economic development, social development, infrastructure, women’s empowerment, sustainability, environment and partnerships. The model developed by Özyeğin Foundation has informed rural development policies in the country.
