We are Working #WithAllOurStrength

15.02.2023

Following the series of earthquakes, since day-one, we have been readily available on the disaster zone with our search and rescue team, and alongside AÇEV, a member of the Disaster Platform that we have been an active supporter of. As the affiliates and social assets of Fiba, we are constantly striving to the last bit of our strength, in order to relieve the damages caused by the quakes.

Support for the Search and Rescue on the Earthquake Zone

To provide support for the search and rescue missions, we redirected a team of 27 people from our mining corporation to the region on the first day. In the subsequent days, the number of our employees participating in search and rescue operations in the region reached 220.

Fiba Volunteers Earthquake Relief Campaign

Fiba Volunteers relief campaign is still available. Upon calculating the amount of donations initiated by our Group members to relevant state and non-governmental organizations, Fiba will repeat the same total amount and donate the funds to the same organizations by the end of February.

Thanks to the support of our group employees, as Fiba Volunteers, we gathered the materials specified on the current requirements lists, sorted those items, and sent them to the region.

· To help with the other requirement which carries the utmost importance, we encouraged our Group members to donate blood. In collaboration with the Red Crescent, we opened donation booths in our shopping malls for blood donation.

· In order to provide aid regarding the need of shelter and food at the region, we dedicated our selected shopping malls, dormitories and schools specifically in the service for the needs of the local population. Currently we are able to reach 7,000 people in the region, organizing the production and transportation of 3,500 loaves of bread daily.

· To date, we have dispatched 10 trucks of required supplies, including containers, tents, generators, sleeping bags, essential food and hygiene products, to be delivered to various points in the earthquake zone.

· From Russia, we have procured 3,000 special thermal blankets and sleeping bags specifically designed for harsh winter conditions. In cooperation with our retail group, we dispatched 2,300 winter gear to the region, and ensured delivery to the victims of the earthquake.

· We provided support for Adıyaman container town. For Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, and Adıyaman cities, we have dispatched assorted equipment including portable toilets, showers, bottled gas, heaters for citizens to live in tent cities under humane conditions.

· We have been coordinating a food supply line reaching to the villages in the Samandağ district, where our power plant is located, and there we also procure vital electricity for our citizens.

· In addition, as the local population relies heavily on husbandry to maintain essential life functions, we also delivered one truck load of forage to those in need in Hatay.

As Fiba Group, we are planning for medium and long-term needs as well, in addition to the support we have provided for urgent needs on the initial days of the earthquake.

Container Towns

Initially, we proceeded with the installation of a container town for 1,000 people, which includes a rehabilitation center, library, recreational area, kids’ playground in the Nurdağı district of Gaziantep. We have also been planning for the installation of container towns in the Defne district of Hatay, as well as Adıyaman.

Regional Relief Fund

We have allocated a relief fund of 350 million Turkish Lira for facilitating vital functions of life in the region and coming up with permanent solutions. Of the said fund, 100 million TL will be donated to AFAD, and the rest will be used for a range of projects, which we will implement in the fields of housing, food, education, and health.

As Fiba Group, we will continue to work #withallourstrength to heal the wounds inflicted by the earthquake, together with our affiliates, social assets, and volunteers.
