Fiba Group prepared an awareness campaign to draw attention to the concepts of care labor and mental workload as part of International Women's Day on March 8. Within the scope of the campaign, "Equal Care Equal Mental Burden Awareness Guide" was published under the consultancy of ÖzU Gender Office, which continues its activities to promote gender equality within Özyeğin University. The guide draws attention to gender-based inequalities in care labor and mental burden, and shares striking data and suggestions for solutions. Everyone can measure their mental workload with the survey available on the website www.yukolmasin.com.tr, where the guide is also available. With this campaign, Fiba Group aims to draw attention to the fact that actions that are seen as simple and ordinary in daily life turn into huge and unequal labor burdens when they come together, and invites everyone to share responsibilities by saying "Paylaş #YükOlmasın".
Fiba Group Corporate Communications Director Aylin Kurt Ganiç stated that they are happy to add a new one to the activities carried out by Fiba Group in different fields on gender equality:
"As Fiba Group, we embrace equality as one of our core values, and under the umbrella of the Fiba İşimiz Eşitlik Platform, we implement projects with our employees to contribute to an egalitarian society. This year, on March 8, International Women's Day, we wanted to draw attention to an issue that puts the most pressure on women in daily life due to gender-based perspectives: care labor and mental workload. Care work is a long list that includes cooking, putting children to sleep, shopping or buying birthday gifts. Mental burden, on the other hand, includes all the decision-making, planning and implementation processes behind these actions. Although it may not be realized in daily life, each of these tasks can turn into burdens that individuals have difficulty carrying when they overlap. With this campaign, we invite everyone to recognize their own burdens and the burdens of the people they share the same house with, and to support each other by dividing the work. We aim for this guide and our website to contribute to awareness as the first step to change the inequalities that have taken root in our lives."
Women in the world work an average of 12 billion hours for no remuneration
In developed economies, the proportion of women who fulfill care needs outside of their full-time work is quite high. Pointing out that according to research, women in the world work an average of 12 billion unpaid hours every day, Ganiç said, "Girls around the world have problems accessing education because they are held responsible for care work. Many women are forced to turn to part-time jobs due to the obligation to meet their care needs. Men spend 1 hour and 30 minutes at home outside of work, while women spend 4 hours and 47 minutes at home." Research shows that at the current rate, women will continue to do 2.3 hours more unpaid care and housework per day on average than men in the future."
Fiba İşimiz Eşitlik Plaform received 2 awards from Women Friendly Brands
Fiba İşimiz Eşitlik Platform received two awards at the Women-Friendly Brands 2024 Awareness Awards organized before March 8. The platform itself received an award in the "Gender Equality Awareness" category, while the Fiba Guide to Combating Domestic Violence was recognized in the "Combating Violence Against Women" category.
Fiba Group, one of Türkiye’s groups with the highest proportion of female employees and executives, carries out many projects with the Fiba İşimiz Eşitlik Platform, which is composed of its employees, to bring gender equality to all areas of life and raise awareness for a more egalitarian society.
